Tribute To Our Fallen Heroes
The World War II Memorial service for Sarawak Volunteer Mechanics and Drivers was held at Zu Tze Temple in Tabuan Laru on August 20.
The service was in recognition of the sacrifices of nearly 100 Sarawak volunteer drivers and mechanics who travelled to Kunming, China in support of China’s war against the Japanese invasion.
“Their heroic stories show the solidarity and compatriot connection between the Chinese at home and abroad. They made remarkable contributions to the victory of the Chinese people’s war against Japanese aggression and the world anti-fascist war.” expressed Fu Jijun, Chinese Consul-General in Kuching,
Fu also offered his tribute and gratitude to the volunteers and their families as well as assuring them that the Chinese government would never forget their sacrifice.
The WWII Memorial for Sarawak Volunteer Mechanics and Drivers was built last year with the assistance from the Board of Management of Zu Tze Temple and the Association of Sarawak Chinese Academic Research.
