Rumah Bengau Wins “Desa Perdana” Award
The people of Rumah Bengau longhouse in Kapit won the “Desa Perdana” award in the longhouse category, receiving a cash prize of RM50,000.00 and project worth RM100,000.00.
It was presented by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak during the Convention of Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) and Federal Village Security and Development Committee (JKKKP) at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) on August 22.
The “Desa Perdana” Award is conferred to Village Committees that show good leadership in the development of the community’s socio-economic, education, information technology (IT) and cleanliness.
A total of 582 villages participated in the competition at the district-level, 159 villages at the State-level and 23 villages selected for the National-level competition organised by the Rural and Regional Development Ministry.
